NYC has witnessed both record rainfall and umbrella abandonment this month.
P.S. When you search 'NYC umbrella abandonment' on Google images there are endless photo galleries dedicated to thousands, perhaps millions, of umbrella casualties. It's really trendy. My original Alabama umbrella has survived, which is very surprising with how much I stubbornly plod along in the rain.
P.P.S. You know when you're entering a search term into the Google box and suggested search terms appear in the drop-down box? When I was searching for pics of abandoned umbrellas 'NYC umbrella repair' popped up. Really? There are that many people out there searching for a Manhattan umbrella repairman? Splurge on a new umbrella why don't you! Or spend the money you would be spending on your umbrella repair to spring for a cab...go crazy! However, thanks to Google, I now know that Uncle Sam's Umbrella Repair is located at West 55th. Awesome.
