The Greenwich Hotel

I truly got to experience an A-list evening this week.

My friend Sam works at The Greenwich Hotel, and was staying as a guest this past Monday.

While we were having cocktails in the private drawing room (you KNOW just by calling it a 'drawing room' it must be super swank.) 

P.S. What the hell is a drawing room anyways?

we just happened to come upon Bradley Cooper having what appeared to be a business meeting out in the courtyard. Love him and also a highlight to the evening.

The hotel is so elegant, yet very discreet so it's obvious why they attract so many high-profile guests. 

We ate a family-style Italian dinner at Locanda Verde before heading home to my UES reality.

Such a perfect night, a huge treat.

I think I got my first cell phone when I was 15.

I left it turned off unless I needed to make an 'emergency' call, and during school it was somewhere in the bottom of my cheerleading bag.

Flash forward nearly a decade later, Apple has gone mainstream, meaning it's actually cool, not just for huge nerds anymore.

Not to mislead, I admit I'm way behind the times as it is. 

The first version of the iPhone was introduced in 2007.

The latest technology has never been a priority of mine. 

However, here I am, with the world at my fingertips. 

Literally.

My favorite part of my dad's trip to NYC was getting to explore the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. 

That's where his hotel was, and from my apartment, It's a half-hour, two-train trip.

It's appreciably cheaper than Manhattan and significantly more laid back, and made me realize that all kinds of new adventures live on the other side of the East River =)

Philharmonic in the Park

On Tuesday, July 13, I was introduced to a beloved NYC summer event that brings out hundreds thousands of New Yorkers to Central Park on two balmy July nights.

Concerts in the Park, presented by the New York Philharmonic.

It had been raining off and on throughout the day of, so I was upset about possible missing the music and our prepared picnic, but it stalled off long enough for the performance, just beginning to sprinkle as the program concluded. 

My favorite were the selections from West Side Story.

Ok, it's been awhile.
I've been busy concentrating on:

1. being really, really hot

2. complaining about being really, really hot

So really, don't blame me for not blogging, it's too damn hot to sit my laptop on my lap.

No one could prepare me for a NYC winter, and no one could convince me about the hot city summers (Not sure how I couldn't grasp that reality for myself though, since I know the two things that provide Alabama with cool summers, both of which I don't have access to. Central air & swimming pools.)

In the miserable heat, the best way to stay cool is to be as still as possible.

So, I'm hitting the books and finally went and joined the library.

I wish I had read this before I went to Savannah last year, and I definitely wish I had pictures from that trip to share, but I don't think I took any.

Family and friends, please stay on me about blogging and taking pictures, because I'm doing a pretty pathetic job at both.
