good morning

Sights, thoughts, etc. of my walk to work...

1. KIDS: City kids love, love their Razor scooters. Parents Nannies walk future congressmen, movie stars and tabloid headliners bundled in down jackets and fur hats to their Upper East Side school weekday retreat.
2. CONSTRUCTION WORKERS: So that 2nd Avenue subway line isn't going to be finished until 2016? Maybe if you borrowed a Razor scooter to jackhammer it would speed up the process and save the MTA some much needed cash.
3. STARBUCKS: Morning coffee is essential. However, since I went to all the trouble of going to Wal-Mart at 6 a.m. on Black Friday to buy a $10 Mr. Coffee for the apartment, that will be my brew of choice (definitely recommend going to Wal-Mart on Black Friday at an unreasonable hour solely to 'people watch' -- you won't regret it, promise).
4. DOG WALKERS: I don't have a dog at home, but I know that you really, really have to love your dog to keep them in this city. Very high maintenance. Though I enjoy watching the professional walkers with their extreme puppy pile of yorkies, doberman and spaniels. Might get a puppy fish plant myself.

On the way to work this morning, I was very aware of how much it had "warmed up." No gloves, no hat, no problem. Right?
WRONG
I checked the temperature when I got to work. It was 32 degrees. What kind of displaced Southerner thinks that's warm? How sad is that?
